County Senior League to start on September 4th

Owen Cooke seals Swinton’s League Cup semi-final victory at Dodworth in early June

The new EV2 Sportswear Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League campaign is to start on the 4th September.

It is all set to be a mouth-watering campaign – certainly in the Premier Division – with several teams hoping to dethrone ‘unbeatable foe’ Swinton Athletic as the top side in the league.

Dodworth Miners Welfare have real ambitions to be the number one side.

The likes of North Gawber, Wakefield AFC and Wombwell Main will likely be in the mix too.

The full make-up of the league and its three divisions is yet to be determined as the AGM is still to be held.

The league is somewhat on a crest of a wave having enjoyed incredible attendances for the recent League Cup competition and it is hoped the high interest in the league will continue.

400 people attended ‘Super Saturday’ at Dodworth when the League Cup semi-final between Dodworth and Swinton was followed by Athersley Rec Reserves’ Memorial Cup triumph over Silkstone United.
