Glavin part of Worsbrough’s opening bat of six

Midfielder Conor Glavin has joined Worsbrough Bridge

Glasshoughton Welfare midfielder Conor Glavin is one of Luke Forgione’s opening six summer signings at Worsbrough Bridge.

Former Penistone Church man and expert penalty taker Glavin, son of Barnsley legend Ronnie, adds vital experience to Worsbrough’s squad which is being slightly rebuilt by Forgione who is looking forward to his full season in charge at Park Road.

Striker Kyle Wordsworth, the recent hero of Athersley Rec Reserves’ EV2 Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League Brian Bradley Memorial Cup triumph, is back for another stint with Worsbrough having played for them in the past.

Versatile Luke Francis, the double-scorer in Worsbrough’s famous midweek win over Skegness Town last year, has re-signed after arriving during Forgione’s first week in charge in October 2020.

Attacker Callum Walton, a key member of the Handsworth Reserves side which shocked many by reaching the County Senior’s League Cup Final in June, has joined Worsbrough.

Midfielder Alfie Dodsworth has also returned to Worsbrough. He played for them under Lee Morris during 2019. He has previously played for Handsworth – where he will have met former Ambers assistant Forgione – and Rossington Main.

Former Nostell Miners Welfare, Armthorpe Welfare and Goole AFC winger Matt Semley is the final signing.
