Striker Nathan Keightley has gone back to where his Non League journey started.

Keightley has re-signed for Glasshoughton Welfare after four years away from Leeds Road.

Keightley burst on the scene as a 16-year-old by scoring the 97th minute equaliser in the dramatic 3-3 draw with Yorkshire Amateur in December 2015.

That was previous joint managers Simon Houghton and Craig Wilkinson’s first match in charge – also notable for it also being Gaz Hunter, Connor Rollinson and club favourite Mike Brearley’s first games in the Welfare blue and white jerseys.

Keightley then electrified the Toolstation NCEL Division One the following season with loads of goals which led to a move to Penistone Church where he enjoyed further success.

Moves to club like Goole AFC, Bridlington Town and Pickering Town in recent times have been short-lived so the return to Leeds Road gives Keightley the chance to kick-start his promising career again.

He helped them beat West Yorkshire League outfit Robin Hood Athletic on Friday night.

Glasshoughton won 4-1 with Jordan Chippendale (2), Jamie Simpson and Liam Owen scoring.
