Two leave, but most stay with Garforth

Long-serving Lee Turner has left Garforth

Charlie Marshall and stalwart Lee Turner are two players who have exited Garforth Town, but most of last season’s successful Toolstation NCEL Premier Division squad are staying put.

Young Marshall, son of Garforth chief Paul, has joined Northern Premier League new-boys Liversedge.

Versatile and popular Turner leaves after three spells with his home-town club. He scored lots of crackers during his time with the Miners and he has the rare distinction of playing in almost every position for them.

Garforth Town goalkeeper Toby Wells

The positives for Garforth is the fact some very key men have signed on again.

‘Superman’ goalkeeper Toby Wells is set to start his fourth season with Garforth.

Tough centre-half Jamie Barkway enters his second campaign as does full-back Jack McGahan.

Striker James Burgess, a throwback from the Vernol Blair era, has re-signed, He headed back to Garforth last September before the season was halted.

Attacker Helmo Silva is back again for Garforth – he first appeared on a Miners team-sheet in the 2017/18 campaign.
