Leech returns to Emley

Former Shelley captain Antony Leech has returned to Emley

Popular ex-player Antony Leech has returned to Emley AFC after six years away.

Leech spent eight years playing for Emley after joining the club in 2007 during the Nicky Bramald and Ray Dennis.

He actually scored on his debut for them in a clash against Borrowash Victoria.

He played in the infamous Scarborough Athletic game in 2008 which saw multiple red cards and crowd trouble afterwards. Emley needed a police escort to leave the ground.

Leech stayed throughout the Ian Banks and then Darren Bland eras before becoming a real stalwart under Darren Hepworth.

Work and family led to leaving in late 2015.

A move to Shelley in the West Yorkshire League followed and he was their captain when they made the move into Non League Football. After Shelley dropped out of the North West Counties he joined Eccleshill United.
