Hunter scores winner to hand his dad a dream start at Knaresborough

Toolstation NCEL Premier Division Round-Up (2)

New Knaresborough Town striker Sean Hunter

Sean Hunter ensured his dad Rob enjoyed a dream start to life as Knaresborough Town manager by scoring the first half winner in the solitary goal victory at Barton Town.

Hunter broke Barton’s offside trap and latched onto young starlet Ewan Gregson’s fantastic ball before firing past former Pontefract Collieries goalkeeper Mikey Emery.

That’s all Knaresborough needed.

Thackley’s incident-packed 4-4 draw with Goole AFC was a match reporter’s nightmare.

Goole raced into an early 2-0 lead through Liam Parker in Mike Carmody’s first game in charge.

Player/manager Paddy McGuire had a major hand in Thackley’s subsequent comeback.

His free kick was nodded home by Kieran Haigh and then it was his corner which led to Ben Grech-Brooksbank equalising.

Another McGuire corner on the hour mark enabled Albert Ibrahimi netting with a strike into the top corner.

Thackley looked to have sown the points up when Grech-Brooksbank fired into the bottom corner after McGuire’s corner was half-cleared.

That was the 73rd minute. By the 80th, Goole, who showed great fighting spirit, were level.

Jordan Emery headed one back before Callum McEwan broke from deep to score.

Even Emery’s late red card for hauling down a through Jahro Parchment did not prevent Goole losing out on their point.

Mitch Dunne scored two in Handsworth’s 4-2 defeat of Danny Forrest’s Silsden who finished up with ten men due to new striker Jack Normanton’s second half red card.

Dunne and prolific goal-scoring defender Tom Roebuck put Handsworth in control.

Normanton reduced the deficit on the hour, but within a minute Leon Howarth had scored for Handsworth.

Joe Jagger gave Silsden late hope with a penalty before Dunne sealed it in the final few minutes.

Life for Emley AFC in their holy grail began with a goal-less draw at Winterton Rangers.

The clash certainly had controversy as referee Michael Robinson awarded Winterton a penalty in each half.

Former Selby Town striker Josh Walker smashed the first one against the crossbar.

Veteran Paul Grimes’ spot kick in the final few minutes by hero goalkeeper Liam Lovell.

Athersley Rec were beaten 4-0 at new arrivals Sherwood Colliery.
