Former Ossett Town starlet Brad Riley made his Silsden competitive debut in the 4-2 defeat at Handsworth on the opening day.

The winger has had an injury-hit career which has taken in spells with Frickley Athletic, Harrogate Railway, Brighouse Town, Liversedge and Shelley but he has always been held regard.

Riley was confirmed as a late arrival at the end of last week.

He is one of several impressive new signings of the summer at Silsden behind Joe Jagger, Jack Normanton, Mohammed Qasim and Khurram Shazad.

Former Thackley striker Normanton’s debut began disastrously as he received a straight red card in the second half.

Silsden’s next match is the mouth-watering FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round derby day home clash with Eccleshill United on Saturday.
