NWCL Division One North

Campion and Ilkley Town both tasted defeat in their historic first games in the North West Counties while ten men Golcar United drew at Holker Old Boys.
New-look Campion lost 3-2 at Garstang, despite a late fight-back.
Lee Ashforth and James Bicknell’s side fell two goals behind before Tom Robinson pulled one back.
Garstang restored their two-goal advantage and although Mark Ferguson headed Campion back into it late-on, they couldn’t force an equaliser.
Ilkley did stage a spectacular comeback against title favourites and giants Bury, but Simon Armstrong’s men were beaten 4-2 in the end after Aidan Chippendale struck twice.
500 people watched Ilkley’s first ever match at Step 6 and they saw James Hudson score two quick-fire early second half goals to bring the scores level at 2-2.
Hope of a fairytale win faded when Chippendale intervened.
Despite Josh Barrett’s first half red card, Golcar drew 1-1 at Holker thanks to Mike Fish’s second half goal.
