Bridlington boss happy with recruitment

NPL Division One East

Bridlington Town manager Brett Agnew

Brett Agnew is happy with the recruitment work done at Bridlington Town this summer.

Bridlington have added five players to their squad and lost two – Chris Adams and Lewis Taylor (Pickering Town).

Very experienced 2010 NCEL Premier Division title-winner Nathan Hotte is back at Queensgate after a long stint away.

The defender or midfielder brings National North experience from his career which has taken in stints with Bradford (Park Avenue), FC Halifax Town and North Ferriby.

Agnew has also signed Hemsworth Miners Welfare’s Declan Parker plus Lewis Dennison (Gainsborough Trinity), goalkeeper Charlie Dixon (Barton Town) and Matty Dixon (Gainsborough Trinity).

“We’ve got quite a bit of strength,” Agnew told Non League Yorkshire.

“I’m happy.

“At first I was quite worried as people were starting to go here, there and everywhere.

“Once things have settled down I think we have recruited really well.

“We have strengthened in the areas we needed to strengthen and we’ve kept the majority of the lads from last season who have done well for us.

“We seem to be a stronger team and we have cover in every area and that’s a good thing.”

Bridlington do not start their season on Saturday as they are the odd team out.

The league has an odd number of clubs so Brid’s return to the NPL begins at Yorkshire Amateur on Tuesday 17th August.
