Jackson Jowett’s double was the highlight as Pickering Town put in a fantastic performance in the 2-2 draw at North East giants Hebburn Town to claim their first point of the season.
Hebburn smashed Yorkshire Amateur for seven in the FA Cup and Pickering themselves lost by the same score-line by Marske.
So Pickering will be forgiven for fearing the worst.
But instead of folding again, Pickering stunned their hosts by taking the lead through Jackson Jowett’s deflected strike in the 12th minute.
Unfortunately Connor Bell equalised quite quickly and Oliver Martin placed Hebburn ahead in the second half.
But Pickering refused to lie down and a rocket from Jowett with 13 minutes to go earned Steve Roberts’ side a share of the spoils.
Liversedge piled more misery on manager-less Stocksbridge Park Steels, claiming a 3-0 victory at Bracken Moor.
Ollie Fearon’s double put ‘Sedge in command by half-time against Stocksbridge who were led by interim manager Lee Thompson following Chris Hilton’s resignation at the weekend.
Ben Atkinson sealed the win for unbeaten ‘Sedge on the hour.
‘Sedge striker Gavin Allott was sent off late-on following a collision with Steels goalkeeper Edd Hall.
Bridlington Town took the lead against Stockton Town through Will Annan but Brett Agnew’s men lost 3-1 at Queensgate.
Annan’s own goal levelled proceedings and Stockton secured the points with goals from Kevin Hayes and Jamie Owens.
Former York City striker Adam Boyes helped title contenders Marske United put Yorkshire Amateur to the sword.
Marske won 4-0 in front of 358 spectators.
Boyes broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time.
Kevin Burgess double the lead on the hour before Boyes completed his treble.
Frickley Athletic were beaten 1-0 at Lincoln United in Dave Frecklington’s 300th game as a manager.
With Frecklington being a former Lincoln boss, the identity of Frickley’s opponents were quite fitting.
Matt Cotton’s 18th minute penalty was the only goal of the game.
Tadcaster Albion conceded twice in the final five minutes – condemning them to a 2-1 defeat to Dunston.
Marko Basic’s first half goal had appeared to have won the game for Paul Quinn’s Tadcaster.
