Toolstation NCEL Premier Division
Shane Kelsey has resigned as manager of Athersley Rec after 18 months in charge.
The ex-Ossett Albion forward Kelsey has stepped down from the post along with assistant Ryan Eastwood.
They have been replaced by a management team of Jimmy Whitehead, Dean Shirt, Dave Woodcock and Kevan Locke.
Kelsey has been finding the role very tough recently – on the results and recruitment front.
The Athersley job is one of the hardest in the NCEL Premier Division due to their policy on not paying money to players and focus on developing young players.
Athersley said “The board reluctantly accepted there resignations. We would like to thank them both for there efforts and were both totally committed to the role and will still continue to develop our young lads at our under 10s.”
The Rec now face an urgent to find a new manager for their reserves in the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League as Whitehead was in charge of that side.
The club added: “We are now on the lookout for a new management team to run our county senior developement team with immediate effect and work in conjunction with our 1st team management as we have a lot of young lads to progress.
“Anyone interested internally at the club or anyone looking for a big challenge contact myself Pete Goodlad on 07910121070.”
