Swinton Athletic striker Matty Thornton has joined Karl Rose’s Wombwell Town on the eve of the Division One season.
Thornton recently helped Swinton win the League Cup and he boasts further success from the unprecedented Dave Simms glory years at North Gawber.
The prolific goal-scorer, the brother of Barnsley Non League legend Joe, is an outstanding signing for Wombwell who have ambitions of climbing the Non League pyramid.
He joins a front-line that already includes Lee Bennett.
Wombwell start the Division One season with a trip to Kiveton Park on Saturday.
