Charlie Marshall’s late wonder goal was the difference as Garforth Town won the battle of the old friends with Knaresborough Town.
Marshall broke down the left in the 75th minute and curled a tremendous effort into the far post to score the only goal of the game – ensuring Garforth bounced back after two consecutive defeats.
The match was notable for Knaresborough manager Rob Hunter facing his old club Garforth who are managed by almost life-long friends Paul Marshall and Mark Smitheringale.
Many of the players had played for both clubs, including Mitch Hamilton, Calum Ward, Dan Coupland, Sean Hunter and Garforth record goal-scorer Mark Simpson.
Threadbare Emley lost 3-0 at high-flying Maltby Main – but Richard Tracey’s men stayed in the game until the latter stages.
Key men Callum Charlton, James Knowles, Matt Sykes, Alex Metcalfe and Jimmy Eyles were missing for Emley.
Striker Aiden Savory also went off injured after just five minutes.
It meant Tracey fielded a few of the club’s highly-rated under 23s players, something he promised to do in the summer if he had widespread unavailability.
Emley held out until the 37th minute when Jonathan Hill headed home from a corner.
Striker Tom Whiting added the second goal with 15 minutes left before Alex Hardwick added the third.
Albion Sports secured a third win in four matches with the impressive 2-0 defeat of fancied AFC Mansfield at Throstle Nest.
Jamal Stewart and Raeece Ellington scored for Albion.
Jimmy Whitehead’s Athersley Rec were beaten 3-0 at Thackley.
Owen Murphy netted twice for Thackley.
Ex-Harrogate Railway left-back Lawrance Hunter also scored for Paddy McGuire’s side.
Eccleshill United lost 2-0 at Bottesford Town – whose captain Mick Jones made his 1000th career appearance.
