Morton is 101st minute hero for Pickering in controversial draw

NPL Division One East Round-Up

New Pickering Town striker Devonte Morton

New signing Devonte Morton was Pickering Town’s hero in the 101st minute as his goal snatched a controversial 2-2 draw against nine man Brighouse Town.

Pickering looked dead and buried after 55 minutes as Laurence Sorhaindo and Javelle Clarke had given Brighouse control of proceedings.

Alhassane Keita pulled one back fairly quickly against his old side to give Pickering hope before the referee proceeded to lose the plot.

With 11 minutes left Pickering were awarded a penalty.

Wayne Brooksby’s attempt was saved by goalkeeper Brett Souter but the assistant referee signalled for a re-take.

During the confusion Souter and Brooksby then became involved in an exchange.

The video doesn’t make great viewing for the referee but Souter saw red along with Danny Racchi to leave Brighouse with nine on the field and midfielder Elliott Harrison in goal.

Brighouse escaped conceding from the retaken penalty as Jackson Jowett sent it over the crossbar.

But Pickering continued to push and former Garforth Town and Goole AFC striker Morton popped up to rescue a point.

Gavin Allott and Ben Atkinson were the ‘Sedge goal-scorers.

Steve Waide’s Tadcaster Albion had to settle for a point in the 2-2 draw with Worksop Town.

After fighting back from Alex Starcenko’s first half goal, Taddy ended up leading at one stage.

Donald Chimalilo’s curled effort levelled the scores and Marko Basic put them ahead.

However, Worksop equalised in the 69th minute through Aaron Sennett-Neilson and both sides had chances to win it.

New Pontefract Collieries midfielder Jack Vann

Pontefract Collieries’ struggles to find their form in the league continue after the home 4-3 defeat to Lincoln United.

The Colls looked set to get that elusive home form when Jack Vann fired them in front in the tenth minute.

However, by the 54th minute Lincoln led 3-1.

Pontefract fought back to level it thanks to Vann and Derry Robson but Lincoln scored with three minutes to go to go home with three points.

New Yorkshire Amateur striker Ross Duggan during his Swallownest days

Yorkshire Amateur lost 4-2 at Hebburn Town.

Ross Duggan got both goals for the Ammers who did take the lead in the 7th minute.
