Brighouse Town have won their appeal against Brett Souter’s controversial red card at Pickering Town.
The goalkeeper was dismissed late-on in the 2-2 draw following a tangle with Wayne Brooksby.
However, the video subsequently showed that Souter was innocent of all charges.
In a statement, Brighouse said: “The club are delighted to announce that the FA have rightfully rescinded the sending off that Brett received in the game against Picketing earlier this month.
“They reviewed the video evidence submitted by the club and agreed that the decision to dismiss him for violent conduct was incorrect and therefore the sending off should be rescinded.
“The supporting testimony of the match day referee acknowledging that, once he had had chance also to review the video evidence, a mistake had been made helped in the decision-making process.
“The club thanks all parties for the speedy consideration and resolution of this matter that allows Brett to continue his impressive start to the season with the club.”
