Player/manager Agnew hits hat-trick for Brid

NPL Division One East Round-Up 

Bridlington Town player/manager Brett Agnew

Player/manager Brett Agnew sensationally scored a hat-trick as Bridlington Town beat Lincoln United 4-2 at Queensgate.

Brid fell behind to a Matt Cotton goal on the half-hour mark but by the break Brid were ahead thanks to two quick-fire goals,

Andy Norfolk rounded the goalkeeper to score the equaliser before Agnew netted his first with a shot form 18 yards.

Lincoln restored parity straight after the break after Jake Park scored.

Brid then went on the offensive late-on.

Agnew scored the rebound from a penalty that had been saved to make it 3-2. 

He then sealed Brid’s win and his hat-trick several minutes later after capitalising on a defensive mistake. 

Liversedge midfielder Ben Atkinson

Liversedge emphatically beat Yorkshire Amateur 5-0 in the derby clash at Clayborn.

A Nicky Walker finish in the 14th minute got the ball rolling. 

A Ben Atkinson penalty after Joe Walton was pulled back on the stroke of half-time put ‘Sedge in firm control. 

‘Sedge then put their foot down in the second half to make the score-line a big one.

Walker crossed for Kevy Tarangadzo to head home straight after the interval.

Defender Adam Field supplied Gav Allott with a tap-in for the fourth.

Atkinson grabbed his second and ‘Sedge’s fifth late-on with a calm finish after taking on an Ammers defender.

Frickley Athletic picked up an impressive point from the 1-1 draw at North East giants Stockton Town.

Dave Frecklington’s men also came close to winning it.

Brad Wells’ goal midway through the second half had given them a tremendous chance of winning the contest. 

Unfortunately captain Adam Nicholson rescued Stockton with a looping header.

Stocksbridge Park Steels defender Reece Fielding

Ian Richards suffered his first defeat at Stocksbridge Park Steels lost 2-1 to Shildon at Bracken Moor.

Reece Fielding gave the Steels late hope but it was too late.

Pickering Town’s Jackson Jowett

Pickering Town lost 4-1 to a strong Worksop Town side at Mill Lane. 

Jackson Jowett actually gave Pickering the lead but Worksop turned it around.

Ossett United were beaten 2-1 at Dunston – Tabish Hussain got their goal.
