NPL Division One East
Brighouse Town 2-1 Stocksbridge Park Steels
First half goals helped Brighouse Town defeat Stocksbridge Park Steels to stretch their unbeaten run to seven league games.
The honeymoon period is definitely over for new Stocksbridge chief Ian Richards whose side were undone by Jack Boyle’s effort and Laurence Sorhaindo’s penalty.
Boyle fired into the bottom corner from inside the penalty after just 11 minutes.
Brighouse put themselves in firm control close to half-time when Sorhaindo netted a spot kick.
Stocksbridge’s efforts to force a dramatic comeback proved unfruitful despite the odd chance.
Nat Croft’s goal in the last minute was too late for them to try and nick an equaliser.
