FA Cup
Pontefract Collieries have been handed a money-spinning FA Cup fourth qualifying round home tie against National League high-flyers FC Halifax Town.
The derby clash is a fantastic reward for Craig Rouse’s heroes who have caught the imagination of many.
If they can cause a major upset inside a packed Beechnut Lane then they will reach the prestigious first round proper and potentially draw a major Football League club.
The Colls have never gone so far in the competition.
The tie is likely to be played on Saturday 16th October.
Ponte’s only real past history with Halifax is with the old club that folded in 2008.
The Colls played Halifax, then managed by Chris Wilder, during the 2006/07 season in the West Riding County Cup.
Roly Lanes’ Pontefract lost 14-3 but were reinstated as Halifax had played Simon Rawnsley who was cup-tied.
