North West Counties League First Division North
Bury AFC 7-3 Golcar United
In the eagerly-anticipated clash between Golcar and Bury, Andy Welsh’s Bury were 4-2 up by half-time.
The game began frantically and Bury raced into a sixth minute lead through Abs Obasoto.
Ash Flynn predictably equalised instantly with a tap-in but that was brief respite for Golcar who succumbed.
Obasoto repaid the provider of his opener with a cross that Lewis Gilboy converted.
Bury were then awarded a penalty which was saved but Ben Wharton blasted the rebound in.
Gilboy repeated the trick from the opener with the assist for Obasoto to score his second goal.
Flynn scored again for Golcar before the break.
A second spot kick in the second half allowed Obasoto to complete his hat-trick.
Gilboy grabbed his second in the 57th minute and that led to a big lull on the goals front.
Tom Greaves supplied Wharton his second goal in the 79th minute before Jake Barrett found the net for Golcar.
The result ends Golcar’s impressive unbeaten run since the season started and strengthens Bury’s hold on top spot.
