Defender joins Handsworth while two go out to get more experience

New Handsworth defender Alfie Smith

Handsworth have signed Swallownest captain and centre-back Alfie Smith, ending a long pursuit.

Handsworth have rated Smith for some time and the ex-Sheffield Wednesday youngster is Jason Dodsworth and Aiden Spowage’s first signing as joint managers.

Swallownest say Smith will bow out for them following the FA Vase clash with Birtley Town tomorrow.

Handsworth host Bottesford Town down the road, hoping to record a third straight league win.

Centre-back Ethan Hobson is one of two players who Handsworth have sent out to get more NCEL experience.

Hobson, who was part of the club’s reserves’ astounding run to the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League Cup final, joins Lee Morris’ Armthorpe Welfare.

Long throw expert and highly-rated young right-back Nana Nyarko heads to Swallownest.

He played a big role in the club’s incredible run in the FA Cup.
