Former Garforth Town manager Vernol Blair’s son Harvey has made his debut for Liverpool in the EFL League Cup fourth round tie with Preston North End.

Jurgen Klopp named the youngster in his starting line-up at Deepdale and he played 55 minutes alongside the likes of Adrian, Joe Gomez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Liverpool won 2-0.

Blair has been on Liverpool’s books since he was an under 12s and he has been tipped for a first team appearance for a while.

His brother Marley previously spent two years at Anfield before moving onto Burnley.

The brothers spent much of their childhood watching Garforth during the unforgettable Simon Clifford years.

Their dad Vernol was Clifford’s assistant for years before stepping up to the manager’s job in the club’s desperate hour in 2012.

There is no question that his actions saved the club at that particular point and he was onto to ensure the club completed their fixtures.

Vernol spoke about his time with Garforth earlier this year to Non League Yorkshire.
