FA Trophy
Twenty years ago Stalybridge Celtic were a Conference Premier club, Yorkshire Amateur were in the bottom half of the NCEL Division One table.
Never in a million years did anyone think back then that their worlds would collide in an FA Trophy third qualifying round tie.
But here we are.
Stalybridge have suffered a fall from grace and have languished in the NPL Premier Division for several years while the Ammers are an oncoming storm in the Non League world.
Ammers joint manager Craig Ogilvie agrees the tie shows just how far the Ammers have come.
“It is great and it has been great all season because we have had a lot of games where it wouldn’t even been thought about ten years ago that the club would be involved in those type of games,” Ogilvie told Non League Yorkshire.
“We’re pleased to be in the next round of the Trophy and it is a free hit for us.
“I suppose over the last two or three years Yorkshire Amateur have never had free hits because we’re always expected to go and win.
“It will be a good day out for the lads and a good experience but we’re going to go there and try and win like we do any game.
“I think we’ll give a good account of ourselves and hopefully we will do.
“We have a few players back as well.”
Stalybridge meet the Ammers during an up and down period.
The Leeds-based side set off like an express train in the opening few weeks of the season but since September results have been mixed.
The Ammers have won one in seven in the league and Ogilvie admits it hasn’t been an easy two months.
“We have had injuries and we’ve still got injuries now and suspensions,” he said.
“This league is forgiving and we’re finding that out.
“You have to be on the top of your game regardless of you are playing.
“If you’re not on it you get beat and you can get trounced.
“We’re going through a bit of a patch at the minute which is a bit of a tough one.
“I think we’ll come out of it absolutely fine.
“We have players starting to come back and all you can do is keep working hard to try and get points.”
