Luke Forgione rued missed chances after Worsbrough Bridge’s 3-2 defeat to Nostell Miners Welfare at a packed Park Road on Friday night.

The crowd of 252 watched Worsbrough get beat despite causing Nostell several problems – especially in the last 20 minutes.

“I think those paid to come in got value for money with five goals again,” Forgione told Non League Yorkshire.

“I think the first half was disappointing as I don’t think we were really at it.

“Credit to Nostell for that.

“It was a bity and we couldn’t get any rhythm going.

“Giving away the first goal and then conceding again just before half-time after getting back in the game kind of killed us.

“For me, most of the second half was all us.

“Don’t get me wrong they still carried a threat but I think we missed a lot of opportunities and we gave away some silly goals and got punished for that.

“Their ‘keeper has pulled off a great save at 3-1 – almost Gordon Banks-esque.

“He kept them in the game there.

“If we had made it 3-2 it changes the game there a little bit.

“But it isn’t just that, we still missed plenty of opportunities after that.”

Whilst Forgione and Worsbrough didn’t get their dream attendance of over 350, they were still thrilled with the turnout.

“Two fifty through the gate again is great so thanks to everyone who came down and supported us,” he said.

“We do appreciate it and it is great to play in front of a crowd.

“We’ve not had these numbers for a long time.

“Result-wise it hasn’t but it has been another great night down at Worsbrough.”
