Unstoppage leaders Liversedge have pulled off a coup by persuading highly-rated Stocksbridge Park Steels youngster Lewis Whitham to join.
It is a very impressive signing by Jonathan Rimmington who has been scouting attacker Whitham for weeks.
Whitham, who broke into the Steels first team a couple of years ago and has been one of their best players this campaign, has been getting better and better and physically stronger.
It has been said for a while that this season is a big year for him and many tip him to go far in the game.
Whitham has the ability to go past people with ease and with the players ‘Sedge have at their disposal, he’s going to have some fun going forward.
He arrives ahead of ‘Sedge’s trip to Frickley Athletic on Saturday.
Stocksbridge manager Ian Richards told their website: “We wish Lewis all the very best at Liversedge, he felt it was too good an offer and opportunity to turn down.
“In the short time we have been at the club we have seen the quality and potential that he possesses.
“He goes with our best wishes and knows he is welcome to return if the move doesn’t quite work out.”
With Whitham now signed on, Rimmington remains on the lookout for a left-back.
It is confirmed Adam Porritt is ruled out for the season with an ACL injury – joining John Cyrus who is also going to miss the rest of the campaign.
