Hemsworth Miners Welfare 7-2 Albion Sports
Hemsworth Miners Welfare took a giant leap towards putting themselves in a position to escape the drop zone with a sensational home win over fellow strugglers Albion Sports.
Andy Higgins and Jakub Hebda both got doubles for Shane Kelsey’s side.
The Wells, without a win in five league games, stormed into a 4-1 half-time and they continued to show no mercy in the second half to move within two points of Albion.
Captain Harry Viggars set the wheels in motion with his tenth minute opener.
Danny Facey equalised but Hemsworth quickly restored their lead thanks to a Charlie Birks header.
Higgins then scored a header of his own to make it 3-1.
Layton Swaine effectively sealed the win on the stroke of half-time with a shot that required assistance off the post.
If they weren’t in dreamland then, they were by the hour mark.
Hebda put the fifth in with a shot from 18 yards before Higgins scored against header from a trademark Steven Jeff cross.
Jaydan Sandhu would score for Albion soon after but the final word was Hemsworth’s as Hebda was gifted a goal from another corner.
