Eccleshill United hat-trick hero Luke Aldrich

Luke Aldrich’s spectacular hat-trick in the final 17 minutes turned a seemingly certain defeat at Staveley Miners Welfare into a stunning 4-3 victory for title-chasing Eccleshill United.

Second-placed Eccleshill were losing 3-0 after just nine minutes and the score-line was the same at half-time.

The in-form Zackary Sangster pulled one back straight after the interval but it wasn’t until the 73rd minute when Eccleshill really turned the game on its head.

Garforth Town maintained the pace with leaders Grimsby Borough and Eccleshill by easing to a 4-0 demolition of Athersley Rec.

Captain Dan Coupland, Fergus McAughtrie and Has Gorji (2) eased them to victory.

Key Penistone Church defender Brett Lovell

Penistone Church are slowly climbing the table and the impressive 2-0 win at Winterton Rangers pushed them to tenth.

Sam Smith got the goal as Handsworth beat Knaresborough Town by the solitary strike at Olivers Mount.

Smith pounced during a game of pinball in the Knaresborough six-yard-box in the sixth minute.

Mohammed Qasim scored in the last minute to rescue a 2-2 draw for Silsden against Maltby Main.

Jonathan Hill and Chandler Gibson had put Maltby on course to return to winning ways.

Qasim had earlier levelled for Maltby.

Young George Doyle was in-form Emley’s hero in the 2-1 defeat of Goole AFC,

Joe Jagger gave Emley an early lead but James Arnold equalised on the hour.

Thackley were edged out in a 6-4 defeat to Barton Town which bizarrely saw seven goals scored in the final 14 minutes.

Albert Ibrahimi (2). Ben Grech-Brooksbank and Lewis Waddington scored for Thackley.
