NPL Division One East
Former Rotherham United defender Ryan Cresswell is the new manager of the world’s oldest club Sheffield FC.
Cresswell, whose Football League career saw him also play for Northampton Town, Southend United and Fleetwood Town, will take charge for the first time when Sheffield host Ossett United on Saturday.
The appointment ends the two-week search for Gavin Smith’s replacement.
Former Frickley Athletic manager Spencer Fearn will assist Cresswell and brings a wide variety of experience to the management team.
Jamie Yates, who served as interim manager, will be first team coach.
Yates remains in charge for the clash with Stockton Town tonight.
Cresswell, who leaves his coaching role at Parkgate, faces a big challenge in his first managerial post.
Sheffield are fourth bottom with nine points after only two wins so far this season.
