Farsley Celtic have given interim chief Neil Ross the manager’s job on a permanent basis.
The former Halifax Town and Macclesfield Town striker, the club’s under 23s and 19s boss, has been in charge since Adam Lakeland’s departure to Curzon Ashton two weeks ago.
He lost his first game at Chorley before guiding the Celts to a 0-0 draw with second-placed Brackley Town on Saturday.
Ross will be assisted by former Macclesfield defender Steve Payne.
Ross told Farsley’s official website: “It’s a brilliant feeling, it’s always been something that I’ve wanted to do. Obviously working here on a daily basis, having been in and around the club day-to-day, it’s an honour to be selected to be the Manager.
“I’m an ambitious person, wanting to manage is something that’s always been in me, so I think coming in as the Interim [Manager] was an opportunity to prove myself and what I can do, and luckily it’s worked out.
“The players have been an absolute credit to themselves, they’ve made my job easier, they’ve bought into what I’ve been wanting to work on in the past 10 days, so I couldn’t be happier with the players.”
Chief Executive Josh Greaves said: “We’re really pleased that we’ve been able to appoint Neil as Manager, along with Steve as his assistant.
“He’s impressed us over the last few weeks, and his drive and his ambition and his attitude towards the club is what we’re looking for.
“Neil has really stepped up to the mark over the last couple of weeks, the players have taken to him, the staff have taken to him and I think he deserves this opportunity.
“We’re in a decent position in the table, we’re in a good position as a club, and we wish him all the best in his role going forward, and he now has a great opportunity to show me and the club what he can do.”
