NPL Division One East (Yorkshire Round-Up)
Nyle Blake and Piteu Crouz earned Frickley Athletic their first league win since August as Dave Frecklington’s men won 2-1 at Stocksbridge Park Steels.
Frickley know how to draw a game but wins have been hard to come by since the opening month.
Blake brilliantly raced forward, escaping several defenders before firing low and hard past Edd Hall to put Frickley ahead early on.
Crouz curled an effort into the far post to double the lead before the hour.
Rare poor defending from Frickley allowed Luke Mangham to set up a frantic finale with the Steels searching for the equaliser.
Stocksbridge thought they had equalised in the final minute but Jack Tinker’s tap-in was ruled out for offside.
Laurence Sorhaindo’s last minute goal rescued a point for Vill Powell’s Brighouse Town in the home clash with Tadcaster Albion.
Des Amponsah had appeared to have won it for Tadcaster who are unbeaten under new manager John Deacey.
Sorhaindo smashed in Jack Boyle’s cross to crown a dramatic finish in the 1-1 draw.
Tadcaster’s Freddie Sass was dismissed in added time for a second bookable offence.
Ossett United drew 0-0 at Sheffield FC in Ryan Cresswell’s first game in charge of the world’s oldest club.
THe only downside from the draw was Nathan Valentine’s red card for two bookable offences – the second reportedly for a sarcastic hand-clapping towards the match official.
Yorkshire Amateur lost 4-0 to Cleethorpes Town at Bracken Edge while Bridlington Town were beaten 2-0 at Shildon.
