Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League Round-Up
Premier Division
Danny Barlow rounded off Swinton Athletic’s comeback win with a trademark free kick while experienced midfielder Laurie Wilson hit a hat-trick in Ecclesfield Red Rose 1915’s victory this weekend.
Star County Senior League forward Barlow sealed the three points in Swinton’s 3-1 home defeat of Houghton Main.
Houghton took the lead on the half-hour mark through Harry Steeple before Enzo Guarini rounded the visiting goalkeeper to equalise.
A clinical Tommy Needham penalty straight after half-time put Swinton ahead for first time.
Then within a few minutes, Barlow rattled home a free kick.
Former Harrogate Town midfielder Wilson scored all the goals as Ecclesfield returned to winning ways with the 3-1 victory over Hepworth United.
Jon Wragg’s side had gone four games without a win prior to Hepworth’s visit.
Wakefield AFC themselves bounced back from a defeat by hammering Jubilee Sports 5-0 away from home.
Red Bates and Jake Morrison both got doubles and Billy Mole netted a solitary goal.
Ten man Dodworth Miners Welfare overcame terrible refereeing and a one-goal deficit to win 2-1 at Oughtilbridge.
Sam Severn pounced on a spilled free kick to equalise before Jack Owen hit the winner.
Martell Daswell’s double earned Stocksbridge Park Steels Reserves a 2-2 draw with Sheffield Town at Bracken Moor.
