Unbeaten leaders North Ferriby took full advantage of postponements elsewhere as Josh Whiteley’s second half winner in the 1-0 defeat of Nostell Miners Welfare stretched their lead at the top to six points.
Whiteley pounced in the 70th minute after Levi Tarbotton had kept a corner alive at the back-post.
Nostell had managed to frustrate their hosts up to that point.
Their task of trying to force an equaliser was not helped by the dismissal of Brett Smith whose lunge was deemed reckless.
Four second half goals enabled Selby Town to beat Shirebrook Town 4-0 and also close the gap on the top four.
Harry Clapham kick-started Selby’s fifth consecutive victory near the hour mark.
Kain Rogerson doubled the lead and Charlie Clamp and Calum Ward sealed the win.
It was a particularly nice moment for Ward who was making his return from a recent operation.
