Yorkshire Amateur have made a marquee signing after luring Nathan Cartman to Bracken Edge.
Cartman’s arrival has been announced just hours after his departure from Scarborough Athletic after accepting an offer he couldn’t turn down closer to home.
He will take up the role of player/assistant manager to Craig Ogilvie and Neil Sibson.
The Ammers are awaiting FA approval for the move so it is unclear if he will be available for the home clash with Tadcaster Albion tomorrow.
Cartman returns to a level he has enjoyed great success at – with spells with Harrogate Railway and Darlington proving very fruitful on the goals front.
He also scored a goal in the play-off final that saw Darlington win promotion out of Step 4 in 2015.
Cartman said: “Speaking to the gaffers, it was an offer which I just couldn’t turn down at this point in my career and in my life.
“The chance to get involved in the off field stuff is massively appealing for moving forward as that’s what I want to be involved in.
“Circumstances change as you get older and this opportunity has come along at the perfect time for me.
“I’ve got to know Ogi quite well over the last few years and I’ve got a lot of respect for him and trust so when he asked me to come along and meet Neil and the chairman to explain it all…
“It’s a really exciting plan they have in place not just for this season but for moving forward too and it fits for me and what I want to do in football when I stop playing so to be able combine both things at a very level still is fantastic.”
