Nathan Cartman has left Scarborough

Striker Nathan Cartman has left Scarborough Athletic to take up an opportunity he can’t turn down closer to his Halifax home.

The former Harrogate Railway and Darlington forward leaves Scarborough after 18 months on the East Coast.

“A change of shifts at work and travelling to York and Scarborough from Halifax are just a couple of reasons for this decision,” he said.

“I have come to the stage in my career where I’m looking to go into the coaching/management side of it and I have been given this opportunity closer to home.

“The opportunity given to me to move into coaching at the level I want is something I can’t turn down and its a chance which may not come around again for me.

“If it wasn’t for this opportunity I wouldn’t have considered leaving.”

Scarborough said in a a statement: “Scarborough Athletic have agreed to release Nathan Cartman from his contract with the club following discussions with the player, the Board of Directors and First Team Manager.

“The player contacted the club with his wish to leave in order to play closer to home and better manage his personal life. Following discussions, it was felt the only option was to allow the player to leave for the benefit of the team and Nathan personally.

“We have granted Nathan this request and wish him well for the future at his new club. We would also like to thank Nathan for all his efforts whilst donning the Boro shirt.”
