Biggest influence on football career
Didn’t really have any great influence, unfortunately.
Career Highlight
No real highlight, the best is yet to come.
Most Memorable Game
Can’t really remember many games. AFC Liverpool away in an FA Cup qualifying round. We were 2-1 down and went on to win 3-2, Kieran Benson shouting ‘what a goal’ as he hit a volley and Leigh Overton pulling off an amazing safe.
Lowest moment in football
Getting relegated for Selby when I was 18 or getting beat by Tadcaster 10-0 and Jonathan Greening scoring a perfect hat-trick without breaking a sweat.
Biggest regret in football
Not making it any higher.
Funniest moment in football
Night out around Liverpool after an FA Cup tie and the mini bus journey home after, Ben Muirhead peeing himself – happened quite a lot to be honest.
First semi-professional manager
Bob Lyon was my first manager at Selby when I was 16. Think he took it easy on me as I was only young.
Non League Debut
I think it was a 1-1 draw away at Shirebrook with Selby when I was 16.
First Red Card in Non League
Two yellow cards away at Grimsby Borough. First actual red was first game of the season away at Athersley Rec, I’d missed a penalty and then gave away a penalty when I was last man and got straight red.
First and Best Non League Goal
There’s not been many. First goal was a penalty, no one wanted to take it and I was captain so stepped up and blasted it home. Best goal was against Rossington last year, we had a corner and I went up for a header towards the edge of the box, the ball dropped and I lobbed the keeper (who was stood on his line).
What do you want to achieve in football in the future?
Promotion with Armthorpe.
Favourite Non League Ground
