Golcar stay in top spot for New Year

North West Counties League First Division North (Yorkshire Round-Up)

Golcar United joint managers Gav and Ash Connor

Nick Crane scored the late winner for leaders Golcar United for the second game running.

The 2-1 win at Chadderton maintains Golcar’s lead at the top.

Ash Flynn opened the scoring for Golcar in the first half.

Chadderton equalised in the 65th minute but Crane had the last word.

Golcar are three points clear of unbeaten Bury AFC who have two games-in-hand.

Bury won 2-0 at Steeton in front of a record 972 people at Marley Stadium.

Goals in each half from Kristian Holt and Abimbola Obasoto denied Roy Mason a memorable victory in his 501st game in charge.

Campion defender Luke Rhodes

A 96th minute equaliser denied Campion in the 1-1 draw at AFC Darwen.

Goal machine Luke Rhodes’ seventh minute deadlock breaker had appeared enough for Campion.
