Higgins gains precious point for Hemsworth

Toolstation NCEL Premier Division Round-Up

Hemsworth goal-scorer Andrew Higgins

Andrew Higgins gained a precious point for relegation-threatened Hemsworth Miners Welfare who drew 1-1 with Silsden.

The Wells are now five points adrift of safety but Albion Sports have two games in hand on them.

Silsden raced into the lead by scoring in the opening 60 seconds through Lewis Gardner.

Higgins levelled after hour mark.

Goole striker Sam Cable

Threadbare Goole AFC were cruelly denied a brilliant victory at Sherwood Colliery who came back from 3-0 down in the final 30 minutes to draw 3-3.

Sam Cable’s double and Ryan Noon’s opener put Mike Carmody’s men on course for victory by the hour mark.

However, fancied Sherwood hit back and a last minute equaliser broke Goole’s hearts.

Knaresborough Town were beaten 3-1 by leaders Grimsby Borough.

Experienced striker Colin Heath brought parity at one stage for Rob Hunter’s side.

Thackley lost 4-0 at Staveley Miners Welfare in the Sunday fixture.
