Leon Howarth scored the dramatic last minute winner as Handsworth ripped up the form book by ending Penistone Church’s winning run.

Penistone had won six on the spin going into the fixture while Handsworth had won two out of their last ten league games.

Jason Dodsworth and Aiden Spowage’s side drew first blood with Howarth netting in the fifth minute.

Church responded instantly as Elliott Firth was presented with a simple finish after sweeping move forward.

Chances followed at both end but it wasn’t until the final ten minutes when more key moments arrived.

Penistone’s Ash Ellis was given his marching orders with just five minutes to go after receiving a second yellow card in a matter of seven minutes.

Handsworth took advantage and young Howarth made himself the hero in the 92nd minute.
