Knaresborough Town 1-3 Garforth Town
Local hero Lee Turner was back on the score-sheet during his Garforth Town comeback which saw the Miners defeat former manager Rob Hunter’s Knaresborough Town at Manse Lane.
It took two goals in the final 20 minutes for Garforth to overcome Knaresborough.
A first half penalty from Jed Zanos placed Paul Marshall’s side, who were almost back at full strength, ahead in the first half.
Knaresborough equalised fairly quickly as Sam Cook, back from a long injury lay-off, headed home.
Teenager Ewan Gregson almost put Knaresborough in front early in the second half but his terrific strike came back off the post.
Turner, who has been playing in the West Yorkshire League for Beeston St Anthony’s, restored Garforth’s lead from a corner.
Subsitute Hass Gorju sealed the winner by calmly burying the ball past goalkeeper Jamie Hassall from close range after taking down young gun Duke Witter’s brilliant cross from the left.
Knaresborough were reduced to ten man in the final five minutes as Cook’s comeback ended on a sour note as he received a second yellow card.
