Garforth Town 3-1 Hemsworth Miners Welfare
Garforth Town scored two very late second half goals to take the three points as ten man Hemsworth Miners Welfare missed the chance to move out of the relegation zone.
The sending off of Hemsworth midfielder Harry Viggars late in the first half was a big moment but the visitors wasted a huge chance when the scores were 1-1.
A Hemsworth win would have lifted them out of the relegation zone for the first time in months.
The wind certainly didn’t help them in the first half as Garforth had it in their favour.
Charlie Marshall found the top corner with a free kick to hand Garforth a 21st minute lead.
The road back looked like a long one for the Wells when Viggars was sent off for his challenge on Marshall.
Yet despite the numerical disadvantage Hemsworth went into half-time level as returning legend Nash Connolly pounced after a scramble from a deep free kick.
The second half could have been a different story had Jakub Hebda buried his golden chance.
Hebda broke away after a defensive mistake from Garforth.
He literally only had Garforth goalkeeper Toby Wells to beat but he fired straight at the stopper and the home side survived.
As the second half wore on Hemsworth tired and the pressure began to build.
Jamie Barkway swung the pendulum towards Garforth after scoring from corner as the game reached the last ten minutes.
The third goal soon came and young Joe Colley scored after being slipped in on the right.
