Jake Maltby and Aidan Kirby scored as Campion picked up a crucial 2-1 win at local rivals Ilkley Town.
Ilkley had the chance to go above Campion and leave them looking over their shoulders if they had won so the stakes were high.
Campion scored two minutes before half-time and then three minutes into the second half.
Midfielder Maltby found the top corner with his goal.
Kirby grabbed the second from a Campion corner.
Ilkley gave themselves late hope thanks to a George Gomersall free kick.
Steeton’s 1-1 draw with Daisy Hill was marred by the injury to emergency goalkeeper Fletcher Paley.
Andy Briggs placed Steeton into a first half lead but Roy Mason’s men were unable to stay in control.
Jordan Lomax’s rocket secured Daisy Hill a point.
Steeton finished with an outfield player in goal as Paley was carried off.
It leaves Mason searching for another goalkeeper.
Golcar United’s game at Nelson was postponed but there was a good news for Ash and Gav Connor’s side.
Runaway leaders Bury AFC were finally beaten in the league for the first time this season as they lost at AFC Blackpool.
Golcar will still need John Virgo’s help with snookers as Bury retain their ten point lead but the Huddersfield-based side can reduce the deficit to seven points with their game-in-hand.
