Frickley secure massive win

Northern Premier League Round-Up (1)

Division One East

Patience has paid off for Dave Frecklington and Frickley Athletic

Rod Orlando-Young was the Frickley Athletic hero as Dave Frecklington’s men earned themselves a massive 1-0 win over Stocksbridge Park Steels.

The victory was Frickley’s first since ironically beating Stocksbridge back in mid-November and their first in nine games.

The three points also lift them from 17th to 15th and above Tadcaster Albion and Bridlington Town.

Recent signing Orlando-Young found the net in the first half with a shot from inside the penalty area.

Frickley have had to be patient as Frecklington has had to rebuild the side again in recent weeks and with a clash with Sheffield FC looming on Saturday, the opportunity to raise spirits even higher is there.

Bridlington Town put in a solid performances at giants Marske United but they lost 2-1.

On loan Luis Aldard equalised for Brid at one stage.

Pickering Town lost a see-saw 4-3 battle at Dunston.

Pickering fought back three times but were undone by a late goal.

Jamie Thornton, Flynn McNaughton and Brandon Holdsworth scored for the Pikes.

Scarborough Athletic came from behind to seize an important 2-1 win over local rivals Whitby Town.

Jacob Hazel gave Whitby a seventh minute lead.

Luca Colville equaliser and Ryan Watson won it for the Seadogs midway through the second half.
