Jas Colliver says the outlook for Ossett United is much brighter after an uplifting seven days at Ingfield.
Two very heavy to Cleethorpes Town and Liversedge inflicted doom and gloom and Colliver responded by becoming the axeman.
The signings of Edd Hall and Jordan Turner were also made and after the draw with Pickering Town and win over Sheffield FC, Colliver is lot of happier.
But he remains on the search for further fresh bodies as he looks to improve the overall quality of the squad.
“We’re in a stronger position,” Colliver told Non League Yorkshire.
“There’s likely to be more signings and we need a couple in particular.
“We feel we need another body at the top of the pitch as we need more competition up there.
“In fairness the squad is looking healthier but there is heavy legs out there.
“There is people who need taking out of the team, not because they are not good enough but because they need rotation.
“We have 15/16 bodies now but you can’t play Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday with 15/16 bodies so we need a turnover of players to replace some tried legs.”
Collier also said his recruitment drive could have been greater with a bit more luck.
“We have been going for a lot of players and we have had seven days in for a lot of players in this league, the league below and the league above,” he said.
“But we haven’t been able to get them in over-the-line.
“There’s three who have gone and watched and put seven days in and agreed for them to come in but they have sustained long-term injuries.
“That’s three lads we thought we had.
“(The shake-up) is not complete by any stretch of the imagination.
“We are still very much work in progress.
“I messaged the board about what we are looking for in key areas and that’s just for this season.
“We want to win every game this season and be competitive, we’re not writing it off by no means.
“We will bring in better players in the summer so players are playing for places and if they want to be at this club they have to perform better consistently.
“Second half on Saturday (against Pickering) we were really good and then first half really poor and probably the worst since we have come in.
“Then second half we get a reaction and we get bodies forward and play on the front-front with a lot of energy.
“The goals we are giving away are sloppy.”
The 3-2 win over Sheffield was certainly dramatic as Ify Ofoegbu scored a 95th minute winner.
Ossett had trailed twice in the clash but Colliver felt the three points were earned.
“We had a lot of pressure and a lot of corners and chances late-on and I actually think if I hadn’t had won it would have been an absolute travesty,” he said.
“I think we deserved to win, particularly in the second half.”
