Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League
Jon Wragg’s Ecclesfield Red Rose 1915 beat the weather and Oughtibridge to move up to fourth in the Premier Division.
The 2-0 win was the only game to take place on Saturday afternoon as Storm Eunice wiped out the rest of the schedule.
Red Rose made a fast start and both goals were scored in the first half.
Liam Childes, who has played twice for Brighouse Town in the Northern Premier League in the past couple of weeks, and influential defender Harry Hurst got the goals.
Ecclesfield are level with Dodworth Miners Welfare and are four points clear of ambitious Wakefield AFC but Gabe Mozzini’s side have four games-in-hand.
Division One
The race for promotion in the second tier is turning into a mouth-watering battle.
One game was played but it had big ramifications as Denaby Main won 8-1 at New Bohemians to climb to third and within six points of leaders Handsworth Reserve and four of second-placed South Kirkby Colliery.
They have also several games-in-hand on those sides.
Adam Kennedy scored four times inside the opening 50 minutes.
Marcus Edwards, Macauley Fawcett, Christian Baby and Lewis Green also netted.
Harvey Allatt hit the target for Bohemians.
