Garforth boss wants big crowd for biggest game in years

Garforth Town manager Paul Marshall

Paul Marshall wants local people to turn out in force tomorrow for the biggest game in years at promotion-chasing Garforth Town.

With six games remaining, Garforth host second-placed Eccleshill United, bidding to retake the promotion/play-offs spot.

A victory would give Garforth real of hope of promotion so the stakes are high and it is clearly their most important match since the glory-laden Simon Clifford era.

“I’d like there to be over 250 people there,” Marshall told Non League Yorkshire.

“It will be a massive help if there is.

“It is a big game in context of the league positions because they are second and we are third.

“Penistone are fourth, Sherwood are fifth and Winterton are sixth and anyone out of five teams can finish second so it is a huge match.

“Teams will be wanting us to draw.

“One of us needs to win the game to finish second.

“It is a massive game and I’m just so proud of what I’ve achieved in a short period of time over the last two years with what’s happened with the pandemic and this season with multiple injury problems.”
