Relegation-threatened Guiseley’s board have publicly backed their joint managers Marcus Bignot and Russ O’Neill.

The statement was released 24 hours before the clash with Boston United.

The statement said: “We would like to publicly give our backing to the management team. Whilst we did not wish to be in the position we currently find ourselves in when we started the season, there is a recognition that our management team are operating on a budget which has been stretched further by numerous long term injuries in key positions.

“We have today announced the permanent signing of John Johnston until the end of next season and we will continue to back the management and players however we can and ask that as supporters you carry on your fantastic support of our young squad of players.

“We as a club are entering a crucial period of the season and it is imperative we all stick together.

“We as directors continue to investigate avenues to strengthen our long term position and to hopefully give our managers the resources to compete higher up the league table in future, any suggestions are more than welcome.

“Please give the team your full support tomorrow, encourage friends and family to come along to help the cause and hopefully we can finish the season on a high.”

On the transfer front, John Johnstone has signed after leaving Kidsgrove Athletic while defender Brad Nicholson has left to join Boston.
