Gawber blow the title race wide open after beating favourites Swinton

Super-sub Kieran Wright scored the opener as North Gawber claimed a stunning win over title favourites Swinton Athletic

North Gawber only went and blew the doors of the title race off after the stunning 2-0 win over favourites Swinton Athletic.

Swinton started well but Gawber scored around the 20th minute mark and never looked back.

Captain Luke Marsden went off injured early doors and his replacement, super-sub, Kieran Wright, got the goal.

Gawber doubled their lead midway through the second half.

Matt Blakey produced a sterling piece of attacking play down the right and he sent a low cross into the penalty area and Swinton defender Jonathan Billups turned the ball into his own net – denying Lee Elsworth a simple tap-in.

The headline-grabbing shock win pushes Gawber to fourth-bottom.

Danny Barlow only scored three times for Swinton – he has scored three times in two games for Dodworth

There’s bound to be more twists and turns but thanks to their friends Gawber, Dodworth Miners Welfare will have destiny in their own hands if they win their games-in-hand.

Dodworth had to fight-back to win 3-1 against faltering title rivals Penistone Church Reserves.

Prodigal son Danny Barlow scored just three times for Swinton this season.

This was his second game back in the Dodworth colours and he’s scored three times after a double against Penistone.

The clash was 1-1 with 20 minutes to go until Jack Owen scored to place Dodworth in front for the first time.

Highly-rated Houghton Main captain James Byford scored at the right end this week

Houghton Main celebrated an important 3-2 win at Hepworth United which moves them further away from danger.

Dylan Middleton, Matt Semley and highly-rated defender netted along with captain James Byford who scored at the right end this week.

Danger man Kieran Hirst scored as Wombwell Main won 2-1 at High Green Villa

Wakefield AFC star Billy Mole

Billy Mole got a hat-trick as Wakefield AFC eased to a 4-0 victory over Sheffield Town.

Oughtibridge War Memorial remain in with a chance of finishing in the top five and they beat Stocksbridge Park Steels Reserves 2-1.

Ecclesfield Red Rose 1915 were stunned by doomed Jubilee Sports in a 2-0 defeat.

Leaders Handsworth maintained their two point lead at the top as Jack Charlesworth’s goal downed AFC Dronfield in a 1-0 win.

Wombwell Town romped to a 8-1 win at Wombwell Main Reserves while South Kirkby Colliery won 4-1 and Sheffield Union and Denaby Main received the points as Caribbean Sports were unable to field a side.

Silkstone United have their title destiny firmly in their own hands following the narrow 1-0 defeat of Boynton Sports.

Three wins out of their remaining four games will secure the crown and promotion to Division One.
