West Yorkshire League Premier Division
Mark Pitts enjoyed a winning return at Carlton Athletic as his men won 6-1 at Gomersal & Cleckheaton.
Robert Bartram, Joe Clegg and star striker Adam Simpson all got doubles in the heavy win.
The win keeps Carlton fourth and in with an outside chance of muscling in on the top three.
Third-placed Horbury are five points clear of them and they have three games-in-hand following their goal-less draw with Matt Wright’s Robin Hood.
Pitts was confirmed as John Moore’s successor last week.
The appointment was met with the sound of trumpets as Pitts led Carlton to unprecedented success during his first spell as manager.
Pitts is one of the most successful managers in WYL history as he led them to three consecutive Premier Division titles alongside multiple other trophies.
