Scott Chipchase says North Gawber’s stunning victory over title favourites Swinton Athletic shows the 2019 champions are firmly back in business.
Gawber did Dodworth Miners Welfare a huge favour by blowing the title race wide open after beating Swinton 2-0 and Chipchase says the win sent out a huge message.
“It was a massive result and it shows the lads are starting to battle and that it is all coming back together,” Chipchase told Non League Yorkshire.
“It will have been a massive shock to everyone (in the league).
“I know Swinton had one-or-two missing but we still had to go out there and get a win.
“When you have a team like Swinton coming you’d up against it straightaway but the lads did well.
“It definitely shows how committed the lads have been to turn (the situation) around.
“With Hepworth losing (on Saturday), the win makes a massive difference to the table already.
“The club was buzzing afterwards and we’re looking to push on again.”
The win moved Gawber above Hepworth United and out of the relegation zone.
Gawber now move onto a tough trip to Ecclesfield Red Rose 1915 tomorrow.
“Me, Dave (Simms) and John (Pickering) sat down afterwards and made a few targets,” he said.
“There’s no reason why we can’t push on and finish mid-table now.
“Ecclesfield who we have on Saturday have had a blip recently in the last couple of games with surprise losses so they’ll be a wounded animal.
“They will be looking to bounce back against us.”
