Avenue move one step closer to securing safety

National North

Bradford (Park Avenue)

Bradford (Park Avenue) didn’t get the win to secure survival but they got a point to move one step closer to safety.

A fourth clean sheet on the spin enabled Mark Bower’s side to draw 0-0 with play-offs chasing Chorley at Horsfall Stadium.

Avenue are 15 points clear of the bottom position with six games to go.

Even now it is unlikely basement side Guiseley are going to catch them as the Lions are sinking at a very fast rate.

Guiseley are five points adrift after a fourth consecutive defeat with the 4-1 loss to Gloucester City.

Ever-improving Farsley Celtic stretched the gap between them Guiseley to six points thanks to the 1-1 draw with Kettering Town in Leeds.

Jimmy Spencer hit the Farsley equaliser.

York City lost 1-0 at title-chasing Brackley Town.

FC Halifax Town double goal-scorer Matty Warburton

FC Halifax Town held on during a nervy finish to beat Woking 2-1 at The Shay.

Matty Warburton’s double had put Halifax on course for the win until Woking converted a penalty with 15 minutes to go.

Martin Woods’ red card put them in further jeopardy for the final seven minutes.

They survived a series of scares and Pete Wild’s remain third.
