Teenager Sam Essien scored the late winner for Handsworth in the rearranged trip to Staveley Miners Welfare.

The youngster struck in the 83rd minute to ensure the Ambers finished the campaign on a high note with a 2-1 victory

The game began in high octane fashion with Jacob Pearce placing Staveley in front in the third minute.

Rob Ludlam then equalised two minutes later.

A campaign that began with huge promise and a memorable FA Cup has faded out for Handsworth but with a talented experienced and youthful side, there should be a lot to look forward to next season in the top flight of NCEL football.

Emley, whose season didn’t get properly started until two months ago, finish ninth after the 0-0 draw at Bottesford Town moved them above Staveley.
